Foundation for St. Margaret’s School Programs
At FSMS, we offer SAT preparation and personalized tutoring to help students reach their college goals. Our crew academy fosters teamwork, discipline, and the joy of being on the water. Additionally, we provide music and vocal lessons that nurture the artistic talents thriving within our school community. These programs keep the St. Margaret’s spirit alive as we work towards a full return, because education, much like the river flowing past our campus, never stops moving forward.

Dedicated faculty and administrators from our original school lead programs that continue the educational mission of St. Margaret’s and prepare for a school reopening as we work to gain ownership of the campus.
Piano & Voice Lessons
Jamie Barrack, Director
Private music lessons in piano and voice promote quicker and more personalized progress by focusing on the individual needs and challenges of each student. Flexible scheduling is available for students aged eight and older, from beginners to advanced levels, on Mondays and Wednesdays. All students aged 17 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Foundation classes are presented through the Rappahannock Academy of Music.
COSTS:
• 30 minute lesson: $35.00
• 45 minute lesson: $50.00
• 60 minute lesson: $65.00
Family discounts are available.

REQUIRED RESOURCES:
• Students are responsible for purchasing individual lesson books, sheet music, and any other resources needed.
• Lesson books and/or sheet music will be determined based on the skill level of each individual student.
• Most resources are available on amazon.com or musicnotes.com.
SAT Prep & Tutoring
Flexible Scheduling
The experienced faculty at the Foundation of St. Margaret’s School offers SAT prep and personalized college-readiness tutoring. They provide tailored study plans and focused instruction that address individual weaknesses, along with strategies to build confidence and improve test-taking skills. This approach boosts confidence, enhances abilities, and fosters essential skills like disciplined learning and resilience for future academic success.
PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS:
• Focus on reading, writing, and test-taking strategies.
• Small-group instruction for personalized support.
• Light math orientation, with independent practice resources provided.
SCHEDULE: Sessions run for four weeks, with meetings twice per week for one hour each. Evening hours are available with flexible scheduling options to accommodate students’ needs. This program helps students prepare for the upcoming SAT test dates on Saturday, November 8, and Saturday, December 6.

COST: $250 per student for the complete four-week program.
The Crew Academy

Discover the basics of sculling in the ideal learning environment: the single scull, guided by one of the sport’s most experienced coaches. Camps are available for individuals of all experience levels, from beginners to advanced rowers, aged 13 and older. SMS on the River offers both weekend-long camps with four on-the-water sessions and single-day learn-to-scull sessions. Please note that participants must be able to swim.
SCHEDULED WEEKEND CAMPS, FRIDAY TO SUNDAY:
October 17-19
November 14-16
November 21-23
Scheduling an additional camp or a learn-to-scull day option is available. Three to seven participants are required. Blackout dates are October 24-26, November 1, and November 14-16.

COST: $500 per person. Fee is inclusive of a camp, room and board.
